some more fall

Some more snapshots of the fading October.

Maple leaves have the same sweet smell
'bright reds' are still around

In a week's time the bright orange/yellow has turned into brown/yellow.

well the seasons are born to "change".
isn't it?

An evening with a toddler

I had a great fun evening with Kripa, a pure human joy in watching & playing with a toddler. So it was my weekend Kshift & I was a bit apprehensive due to recent tantrums & her feelings of insecurity.
After a phone chat with AntyAkka on sunday evening, we headed towards our playroom, with a stock pile of sliced apples. Initially I engaged her with toys, trying to get my chores done (charge the battery, set up barriers to electric wires etc). K would follow me to each room, engaging herself with things she can reach & touch, baby babbling to herself, munching on the apple slices that I would sneak between her fingers. She just wanted me to be close enough to feel safe. 20 or so minutes later, I said to myself "how often do I get this kinda 'quality' time".

So we sat on the floor, playing with the truck, flipping through the animals & fruits in the picture book. It is joy to see the sheer marvel in her eyes when she spots something new. I could not match her energy levels at this time of the day. I used her eagerness to reach up to things that were previously out of reach, as motivation to stand up on her feet. So with initial help to getup, holding the sides of the small table, she would flex her calves, as long as I kept something new & interesting on the table. After the apple slices were gone deep into her digestive track, I summoned for fresh-from-the-store strawberries. That kept her going. Fortunately for me, she was hungry enough to gulp her third strawberry. We practiced some new sounds, some words in picturebook and even flipped through the recent 'Time' magazine.

We took pics & watched some of the pics on the camera screen. She was extra animated today, uttering free speech (babbles) relating to things around her. We tricked her into brushing. After 8:40pm I could not stay selfish anymore, to keep her up & have all this fun. So we got the milk, dimmed the lights & kept some humming going. It was probably the first time that I was lying by her side the whole time, as she dozed off to the wonderland. Her brain is probably sifting through the important lessons of the day & transferring them to the long term memory department. I was so grateful for this time. Thank you Lord.
